_Spring_2006_Student_Evaluations_ _Student_Leader:_Douglas_Thrift_ _Faculty_Supervisor:_Murat_Karaorman_ Computer Science CS 10, Section 1 UNIX: History, Philosophy, Influence EC # 07690 1. "I wish there were more student-taught/led colloquiums." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 2. "Doug had a really good command of the subject material. Organization was appropriate but there could have been more material to present. Read assignments could have been spread out and made more specific to the topics discussed." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 3. "Woof, Way to teach. Haiku: Doug is very cool, Unix history is fun, Let him teach again." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 4. "Doug knows a lot and he is way cool. I don't know if the format of the class was the best, it would have been cool if he did more lecture style teaching. But it was nice to learn from each other in this discussion style. People got distracted a lot in class, we would interject with funny things or whatever and I don't think he was strict enough about that, bet there would have been backlash!" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 5. "I enjoyed the material covered in the course. Maybe you should offer a course in creating a new UNIX!" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 6. "Doug is awesome. I want him to have my babies. Doug's class is equally baby-having awesome. I learned a fair bit about how UNIX works, it's history and it's offspring. Here is a picture of Doug holding two of my babies, and if you see the other side of this evaluation, I've drawn his buttocks! :):" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 7. "I'm not the biggest fan of student colloquia, BUT suffice it to say that Doug seems to care about his class A LOT!!" - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
